Of the four hundred million websites out there in cyberspace, less than four percent of
them were actually designed to appeal to a broad audience of readers. If your affiliate
marketing website falls into that 96% group then it’s no wonder why your sales have not
gone through the roof yet; people simply do not feel a personal connection to what you’re
selling. In order to have a successful affiliate website, the content must be delivered in a
unique voice that makes readers feel welcomed.
Providing Audiences Specific Information
One of the best tools to attract customers in the affiliate marketing world is optimizing
your website for a specific audience. For example, if you’re going to sell different types
of batteries and chargers; do not simply tell customers what products you sell. Sure,
that’s what everyone else does, but consumers want to know why certain batteries are
better than others are, how they actually work, when to buy them, and who your company
represents. This type of approach can be applied to any affiliate website; it’s called
becoming an authority within your genre.
Now, you might be thinking, “Isn’t the company who makes my products the authority?”
Well, they should be, but for whatever reason they have decided to pay you to tell
others why their product is worth buying. That’s the premise of affiliate marketing; you
know how to connect a buyer and a seller together through words, videos, and pictures.
Customers expect to receive that type of information on affiliate sites in order to help
them make a purchase decision; either you provide it or a competitor will.
Catering to Google and the Search Engines
In all honesty, there is probably nothing that you could say that has not already been
said a hundred times before. The way you say it, however, can always be unique in
affiliate marketing. Search engines love original content, so do not be afraid to push the
boundaries of how you present your products. By spicing up this kind of content on your
affiliate website and expressing it in your personal voice, it automatically boosts you over
90% of the websites out there because of its originality. Now, that doesn’t mean that you
should go overboard either, but posting direct, relevant content from unique angles will
instantly make you competitive.
Getting back to the battery example for a moment, let’s say that your top competitor
in the rankings has around 100 pages of dry, boring text that really doesn’t tell you
anything more than what consumers would find on the manufacturer’s website. The only
reason that they control the top spot on Google is because nobody has come along and
challenged them for it, and you can accomplish this task in one of two ways. While most
affiliate websites would choose to go strictly by the numbers and create 110 pages of
dry, boring content, you can also succeed by preparing half the web pages in a voice that
consumers respond to.
