Answers Websites and Affiliate Money

To be a pro affiliate, you have to think outside the box. That means looking for new avenues to catch website traffic and more importantly, traffic to your affiliate programs via your links.

If you really use your head, you might not need an affiliate website at all.

Because there are giant websites out there just begging for your affiliate links. The “Answers” sites.

I’m talking about Yahoo Answers, Answers.com and the hundreds of clone variations out there as well.

All you have to do is answer some questions. So answer them. With links to appropriate affiliate programs.

Here’s an example:

Billy from Omaha posts a question that goes a little like this… “Where can I find inexpensive guitar lessons?” Now you may not know jack about guitar lessons, but that’s not what matters. Nope, what matters here is writing the best answer for BILLY. Because we want Billy to pick it as the best answer.

Why?

Because it’s not really Billy we want to sell. Though it’s cool if Billy does buy something, what we really want is to be the best answer on that question so that our affiliate links sit there for eternity.

Sucking up juicy search engine traffic for terms like “cheap guitar lessons”….

You feel me yet?

So here’s how we can make some dough from the answers websites. First, post a good answer to their question that does not have anything to do with sending them to an affiliate website. Do some research, find Billy several options and make some references to some free or very inexpensive websites.

Then, after you’ve been Billy’s super dee duper new helper, you write your last paragraph.

Which says something like:

“And Billy, if those don’t work for you, you could always try picking up a book on guitar lessons at Amazon.” (Here’s where you put your Amazon link boys and girls)

The key to making this work is to really help. Offer genuine advice on subjects you are familiar with or research thoroughly. Don’t half ass it, dig in and add something good to these sites. Because if your answer is picked as the top one, you’ll be pretty surprised at the traffic you’ll gain.

Now, all that being said…

These sites have terms of service. Don’t just take my word for it that it’s cool to post your affiliate links in your answers. Read the terms of use before you post a thing. Don’t get booted from the site for being dumb. If you know what is allowed and what isn’t you can make this and other traffic generation plans work extremely well.

So make a plan. Think outside the box.

And one more thing. Stop being lazy affiliates. Stop looking for push button, $19.95 programs that you hope make you rich someday.

Be a smart affiliate.

    One more thing on this.

You may want to “hide” your affiliate links when posting to yahoo answers or answers.com or whatever.

What I mean by this is that most affiliate links are ugly and long. Most users know they are affiliate links and this can hurt your click through ratios.

    So clean them up.

Use link shortening websites like tinyurl.com

This will help click thrus and hopefully make more sales for you.

Go on, get. You’ve got super affiliate stuff to do!

One more side note on making money from answers websites.

I have spoken with two different affiliates this month that are marketing this way.

One told me he was making $4000 a month, the other told me that he was making over $5k per month now. So there’s some money to be made there.

Hope it works out for you.
